IBM Quantum is presented on its home page as a full-stack quantum computing provider within IBM. The page says it offers access to a fleet of 100+ qubit quantum computers through IBM Quantum Platform and provides Qiskit, an open-source software stack for quantum computing and algorithm research. It also highlights Qiskit Functions and research-oriented tools intended to support algorithm and application development.
The same page describes an ecosystem effort through the IBM Quantum Network, which includes academic institutions, industry clients, startups, and other partners. IBM says the network has 300+ members, 60+ startup partners, and 100+ completed prototypes. The site also references IBM’s roadmap toward fault-tolerant quantum computing and names hardware including IBM Quantum Nighthawk r2 and IBM Quantum Heron.
In October 2026 IBM announced IBM Quantum Safe, a suite for post-quantum cryptography migration made up of Quantum Safe Cryptography Manager, Quantum Safe Explorer and Quantum Safe Proxy, building on the Guardium Cryptography Manager it introduced in 2025. The same month, IBM researchers reported linking two 120-qubit Nighthawk R1 processors with four 80-centimeter superconducting "l-couplers", with an average state transfer fidelity of 99%, as a building block for modular systems on the way to its planned fault-tolerant IBM Quantum Starling computer.
