Nord Quantique describes itself as “The Logical Qubit Company” and says it is building rack-scale error-corrected quantum computers. According to its website, the company embeds error correction directly into every qubit and uses superconducting bosonic codes to reduce overhead on the path to fault-tolerant quantum computing.
The company states that its strategy is based on a 1:1 logical-to-physical qubit ratio using a superconducting architecture. Its website says this approach is intended to reduce system size, complexity, and energy requirements compared with architectures that need many physical qubits for error correction.
The homepage says Nord Quantique was founded in 2020 and began hardware operations in Sherbrooke’s Quantum Innovation Zone. It lists technical milestones including first grid codes in 2021, an industry demonstration of quantum error correction in 2023, and in 2025 demonstrations of multimodal grid codes and a two-qubit gate between GKP qubits. The company also says it advanced to Stage B of DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative and was named among the inaugural firms in the Canada Quantum Champions Program.
On October 27, 2026, Nord Quantique announced a US$10 million extension of its DARPA Quantum Benchmarking Initiative Stage B agreement. The company said the extension supports its continued participation in Stage B, which evaluates whether emerging architectures can reach utility-scale operation by 2033.
