Wolfspeed describes itself as the world's only pure-play, vertically integrated silicon carbide (SiC) company and the largest pure-play provider of SiC substrates. Its core business is SiC materials and power devices, including MOSFETs, Schottky diodes and power modules, and its website says it runs a U.S.-based silicon carbide corridor with end-to-end substrate and power device fabrication.
The company's quantum relevance comes through its materials business. On October 29, 2026, Wolfspeed announced the commercial introduction of TSiC, an optical-grade transparent silicon carbide substrate aimed at augmented reality waveguides and quantum computing. Its product page says 4H-SiC is being explored as a cryogenic packaging substrate, a low-loss photonic platform and a host for engineered spin-defect qubits. TSiC is listed as commercially available in 150 mm and 200 mm diameters, with 300 mm sampling, and Wolfspeed says its reduced-absorption technique received a U.S. patent in July 2024.
